Top notes are Petitgrain, Eucalyptus and Mint; middle notes are Galbanum and Sage; base notes are Cedarwood and Amyris. Cut Stems by Leland Francis is described as a cool, herbaceous extrait de parfum that focuses on the impression of freshly cut stems and green leaves. The fragrance opens with a brisk combination of white eucalyptus, mint, and petitgrain, giving a sharp, aromatic and slightly camphorous freshness. A heart of sage leaf and galbanum reinforces the green, leafy character, suggesting crushed stems and fresh sap. Cedarwood and amyris in the base provide a soft, woody backdrop that grounds the composition while maintaining its green tonalities. The formula is noted as being made with 100% naturally derived aromatic materials and organic sugarcane alcohol, without synthetic fragrance compounds, emphasizing a natural approach to the construction of this green, aromatic scent.
