The length of time a fragrance remains perceptible after application.
Also known as: lasting power
Not to be confused with: Projection
How far the scent radiates from you right now.
The scented trail that remains as you move.
How long the fragrance remains detectable at all.
The formula, amount applied, surface and conditions influence wear. Clothing and skin can give different results. Repeatedly smelling your own perfume can also make it less noticeable to you, so losing track of it is not conclusive evidence that it has disappeared.
A fragrance is faintly detectable on your wrist in the evening, even though it stopped reaching other people much earlier.
“I can still smell it close to my wrist after work; its projection fades sooner.”
Long-lasting does not mean loud. Nor does one person’s wear time promise the same number of hours for everyone.
