The violet, one of the most exotic flowers from the African continent, became very popular in the early 19th century where it was cultivated in greenhouses and worn only by the very rich. Now a classic, the Santa Maria Novella violet fragrance has a sweet, intensely feminine and romantic odour that is made more subtle and less sweet than most other violet fragrances by the addition of a very green base note.
