The sun had not yet risen and, in the clear October sky, the stars still shone. The flowers had to be picked before they opened, explained one of the women. The gatherers, bent over, and careful not to damage the precious flower, quickly filled the baskets that would then end with the separation of the yellow threads from the crimson stigmas. Everything was done by hand, with patience, dedication, and the guidance of ancient wisdom. In the fragile dawn light, under the last stars, I looked up and gazed at the soaring towers of San Gimignano. In that dreamlike atmosphere, like a virtuoso the plants orchestrated the sunrise with their pigments, and infused the land with their scent. I knew, then, that I had to share the marvel of this morning through the essence of Zafferano Rosa."
